Asthma

COPD and asthma are often confused. The most important reason for this is that both diseases have similar symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, wheezing, etc.). However, three main differences should be underlined. Incorrect diagnosis, inaccurate control of the disease, and incorrect treatment can lead to serious problems.

By applying the COPD balloon treatment in patients with obstructed bronchial lumen, we provide permanent lumen patency. Similar changes occur in the bronchial mucosa in patients with severe COPD and patients with advanced asthma who do not respond to treatment. Bronchial stenosis in asthmatic patients shows a permanent feature. It is known that this issue, which is explained by the Dutch hypothesis, benefits from intrabronchial treatments in cases where it is not possible to treat patients with severe asthma with conventional asthma medications. One of these treatments is thermoplasty method. COPD Balloon Therapy, which provides mechanical cleaning and dilatation of the bronchi, can also be successfully applied to these patients.
